2012 Vardon school

This year it was awesome being in room 15. I want to stay here next year but I have to go to Maeroa intermidite next year. I'm excited and a bit nervous about going there. The worse thing about going to Maeroa is that thres no one in my class that I know. I'm scared that I might get lost on the first day. The 3 best things in Vardon have been Reading maths and oral language. Reading because I love reading books then doing some projects on them and I can do them fast. This year we red two books Gold of the gods Bear Grylls and Boy overboard Moris Glietzman. Boy overboard was better cause it was intresting the whole way. Gold of the gods was boring at the start but it was intresting in the middle. Maths is fun too . Its really easy but sometimes I dont get fractions otherwise its all easy. For maths we have done lots of different types of things but the best is the speed test that we do on Friday mornings. Ive pased the 1-10 and 3-12 timestables and division. I'm upto conversion. Its really easy and I complete it too. I also like oral language because sometimes we get to see videos or sometimes we play mini games like 30 second club and guess the word. Sometimes we discuss things like : what would the world be like if human beings could breath under water and other things like that. I'm sad aboud leaving RM 15 but Im going to come here and visit sometime next year.

Intermiadiate

Next year I am going to Maeroa intermiadiate. I was really nervous at first but then when I knew that my friend Bailey is going there too I felt happy. Me and Bailey are both in the DLU (Differinated learning unit) so we might be in the same class too. We will get to meet our teacher and know which claass we are in on 6th December (This Thursday). Cant wait for it. 

If the world was 100 people

IN room 15 we shrunk the amout of people living in the world because 7 billion is a really hard number to understand. I had to do a poster about where people live in the world.  

Same same but different

This is a photo of 5 different people. How I made this is...First we had lots of face strips that we had to match together. Then we glued them on to a piece of paper. Thats how you make it. Write  a comment and include what you think this persons age is. You could try making it too. This art is named same same but different because its same like 1 person but it's made out of different people.

The great egg drop challenge

Last Friday RM 15 did a egg drop challenge। We had to do it in table groups। Mr Marquand gave us ३ straws २ icecream sticks half a metre tape १ and a half sheets of newspapper । And १ egg। We had to make the strongest base for the egg। We had thirteen minutes to do it। After we were finished Mr Marquand got the egg pack and stood on the bench and held the egg to the highest point as he could। then he threw them down। If the egg was broken the team lost but if it didnt then that group would get the brownies। Only India won। Thats a table groups name।.

adding detail

For writing we have been learning to make boring sentenses into really intresting sentenses by adding detail। We had to change I ate breakfast into a intresting sentense । This is my version of it।

Yesterday sunny morning I ate deliocios breakfast at 6 o clock। I ate breakfast so early because I had to go to work at 7 o clock। For breakfast I ate cluster crisp and berry yoghurt with meusli। It was deliocios।

kaleidoscope art.

Hi everyone this is my kaleidoscope art.
This was chalinging because when you glued the pieces on there were some white spaces left or otherwise they would go 0n top off each other.
One of the difficult things was cutting because the siccors would cut the picture.
I am really proud of which picture I chose cause it looks neat and I am still happy with it. I chose the tiger because I like the cat family.

Olympics 2012 Earth UK London

Hey everyone its Sabrina here. Did you know olympics are going on. Did you see the opening ceremony of the olympics well it was awesome. Do you know why the olympic rings are the colors they are. Because one of those colors are in every counties flag in the world. The rowers are doing well as well. Richie Patterson is struggling to lift that heavy weight. I will tell you more later on. My lunch is ready so bye for now.

Term 3 it is do you know

Hey everyone its Sabrina here. yeah yeah its term 3 and the topic is olympics which is great cause i love olympics. Did you know that olympics come after 4 years. Thats a lot. When I'm elder I want to be in the olympics too. I'm really excited about watching the olympics on TV too. I wish I could go there. this term for reading we are reading another book. For writing we are writing about a sport then we are writing about olympics. I'm a bit nervous about writing the report on olympics cause I don't know the names of people who play in the olympics. For the sport writing we must include the title, what type of sport it is like a ball sport or a team sport or another one, how it is played, the aim of the game and some facts about it. For maths we are doing fractions which I hate cause I just don't get them. I know the easy ones like 1/3, 1/4,1/2,1 hole and some others but I don't get the ones like 2/3 or 2/4 and heaps others. I have to go now so bye for now.

Book review-Gold of the gods

Hi there its Sabrina here. Right now I will tell you a book review about the book gold of the gods. This is one of the best books i've ever read. It is a long chapter book in which theres Beck who is trying to find the lost city of gold. This book is a little boring at the start until Marco, Christina and Beck start their adventure on the ship. This book is about Beck, Marco and Christina who go on a ship to find the lost city. Christina gets lost and I'm not going to tell you what happens next cause it will spoil it for when you're reading. Well do you know who Beck is? He is the person who's in Man V Wild. My favorite part of the book was when Christina gets lost cause I wanted to know that will Christina ever come back or not. I didn't like how the story ended because I think it shouldive had something sad at the end. I think anyone over 12 will enjoy this book cause it has hard words in it like hacienda. You should read it now.

Math time

Hey everyone this week for maths in einstien we are doing division remainders. Today we had a sheet for division remainders and at first I found it very hard but then it was easy for me cause at first I hadn't understanded those Questions on the sheet. please answer this question by commenting on this post and I will tell you if its correct or not. 55 divided by 9 = what. Have a guess.

Discovery Speech

My speech topic was on Voyager 1 and 2.
You must have listened to my speech and you know its about Voyager 1 and 2 but do you know why  I chose this topic? Well I always wanted to learn more about space so I thought Voyagers went in space and I'll get to know more about space so thats why I chose this topic.
Before my speech I felt a bit excited and a bit nervous.
After my speech I felt relaxed and a bit sad because I didn't do much eye contact.
I'm really proud of myself because I did it even though I felt a little nervous.
Next time I would do more gestures.

Arbor day

Hey everyone its arbor day coming up and I get to plant some trees in a park on Friday 1 June.Nearly everyone wants to come to that park but only if you're a enviro agent or your in the green fingers club you can go.I'm really excited to go there.

Discovery

This term for topic we are doing discovery. The first Person who discovered New Zealand was Kupe. Every day Kupe went fishing but one day when he went fishing he didn't get any fish. The next day when Kupe went fishing he saw a octupos who was eating the fish saw he thought to kill him but the octupos swam away in the pacific ocean so Kupe and some other people went after the octopus on their boat.they traveled for lots days then one day Kupes wife spotted a cloud. She said a cloud a cloud a long white cloud. A cloud is a sign of land. Kupe killed the octopus and then went to the land. The land was new Zealand and that's the story of kupe.

Spoonerisims

Spoonerisims are words that we get mixed up when we're talking. For example like If I was saying I like pizza. I might say I pike lizza. So spoonerisim is mainly you swop the first letter of the two words in a sentence.

This term for writing we have been learning what homophones are. They are words that sound the same but spell and mean different like write and right. There are thousands of homophones.

Rippa rugby

Hey everyone last Wednesday me and 9 other children went to Swabrick park to play rippa rugby. We played 3 against Frankton, 1 against St Pias and 1 against whatawhata. We lost with St pias, we drew with Frankton and we won 3 games. I didn't get the ball much but I did lots of ripping.

A stop motion is where you take lots of photos of something and make a video out of the photos.

The main things you need to make a stop motion is a tripod, camera, video editing software, video spin, windows movie maker, imovie, sound effect, music and a computer.

First you have to plan your stop motion. Second you have to put your camera on the tripod. Third set your stop motion animation. Then go to where you want to take your photos. Then take a photo of the empty background and then put the things in front of the screen and then click another photo then move the object a tiny bit and then get another photo and keep doing that until you have hundreds of photos. Once you have taken your photos put them onto video editing software or video spin. Next decide if you want a side effect or not. Then put some background music and then play your stop motion and see if it’s your way. Last publish it.

Now you know how to make a stop motion. Now all your photos will be changed into a video. Now it’s your turn to make it, something incredible, something you’ve never seen or done before.

Kara piro dam

Last Tuesday we went to Kara piro dam. 2 things I learnt at Kara piro dam were that the dam only opens 2-3 times a year and that it was built in 1944. what surprised me about the dam was that fast coming water from the up. What speed is the water that comes down.

Stop motion

We have been doing stop motion animation.
Stop motion is when you stand still and someone gets a photo of you then you move a tiny bit and someone gets a another photo of you. You have to get thousands of photos then you have to download them onto to a Internet website and it makes a video of the photos. In our practice stop motion we stood still then Mr M took a photo of us then we moved a little bit forward and still we were standing straight. We took about thirty photos total. After clicking some photos some of us then came to the back of the camera and then at the end only one person was standing and then she came back too. In the stop motion video it looks like we are slipping on the grass and then we are disappearing. The videos about 10 seconds long. To make it longer you have to click more photos. In our final stop motion we will make it about sustainability because that is our topic. I am really excited about it.

Introducing me

Hi, my name is Sabrina.

I am year 6.

One place I would like to go is Canada because I wnt to be in minus 20 temprature and I want to be in a snowfall.

My parents were born in India but they moved to NZ because they liked NZs weather more than India.

My favourite place to go in Hamilton is THE BASE because I like shopping.

Some things I love are sports, computer games, animals and iPad games.

This is a collage portrait of me. To make this I had to cut pictures from the magazine and glue them onto my t-shirt, next I had to cut some green coloured paper and glue it onto the background. Third I had to cut some strips from my coloured photo and glue it onto my black and white photo.
